We are thrilled to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Worriers' debut full length Imaginary Life today and what better way than with a special edition! You can read more about it below from Lauren and pre-order from us at our website or on bandcamp where you can also download the new edition (the bonus tracks will not be streaming). Take it away, Lauren:
10 years ago today, Worriers released our first full-length album “Imaginary Life” on Don Giovanni Records. Four friends and I drove out to Rancho Recordo in Michigan (to this day my favorite studio) and with the help of engineer Marc Jacob Hudson and producer Laura Jane Grace, we recorded 12 songs that I consider to be the foundation of the band. It’s both personal and political, punk but also pop.
Years later I am still so proud of these songs, of their message, and what they’ve meant to other people. I’m eternally grateful for the connections I’ve formed with friends and fans over the lyrics in songs like “They / Them / Theirs”, “Most Space” or “Yes All Cops.” It feels like a completely separate lifetime from the one I’m living now, but I love what we made and want to celebrate it.
To commemorate this wild anniversary, we’re including five demos with purchase of the album and an edition of 100 signed and numbered postcards for anyone who purchases a physical copy. I found one demo of Chasing that we recorded in Michigan late at night on a cassette deck that for some reason also includes a xylophone. The other four are demos of our first four songs, including “All I Ever Wanted”, the original title for “Jinx”, that were recorded in Brooklyn with the original 3-piece lineup of the band - myself, Justin Sullivan, and Mike Catalano.
The band formed as a side project, just some kids who liked punkrock and the Reigning Sound. It turned into so much more than originally intended. Best case scenario, really. I hope you enjoy hearing where this all started!
-Lauren Deniztio, August 2025
Since launching in the early 2010’s, Worriers has operated as more than just Lauren Denitzio's songwriting vehicle. The band has become a laboratory for exploring the intersection of punk urgency and indie introspection. What began as a side project has evolved into a decade-plus journey of musical and personal transformation, with this year marking the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough debut Imaginary Life. The trajectory from that core album through Survival Pop (2017), You or Someone You Know (2020), and the recent one-two punch of Warm Blanket and Trust Your Gut (both released in 2023) reveals a band unafraid to push boundaries while retaining punk's emotional directness.
Denitzio's extensive touring history with Against Me!, Alkaline Trio, Jawbreaker, Julien Baker, and The Wonder Years reflects an artist who's earned their place among thoughtful punk and indie acts through relentless creativity rather than hype. Trust Your Gut’s writing lineup, featuring Atom Willard (Against Me!, Alkaline Trio), Frank Piegaro, Franz Nicolay (The Hold Steady), and Allegra Anka (Cayetana) brings serious pedigree to Worriers' signature blend of cathartic riffs and razor-sharp storytelling. Whether processing open-heart surgery, gender expression, or the complexities of learning to trust oneself, Denitzio continues channeling their DIY ethos into music that cuts deep and resonates far beyond any single scene.
